Analysis of the Impact of High Voltage on the Performance of Vacuum Circuit Breakers

In power systems, when a vacuum circuit breaker (VCB) operates under high-voltage conditions, its insulation performance and switching capability are significantly affected. High voltage intensifies the electric field strength, increasing the risk of insulation breakdown, which may lead to equipment damage or operational failure.

Moreover, the materials inside the vacuum circuit breaker may experience aging and fatigue under prolonged high-voltage stress, which can impair normal functionality. Particularly during frequent load switching or short-circuit operations, high voltage imposes greater stress on the switching mechanism, thereby reducing the reliability of the mechanical components.

Therefore, it is crucial to regularly maintain and test vacuum circuit breakers to ensure they continue to perform reliably under high-voltage conditions. Additionally, optimizing system configuration and selecting devices with appropriate rated values can effectively enhance the stability and safety of the entire power system.
